This engine may be small but it packs quite the punch. Try the LS6 crate engine and find out for yourself
With a superior cam, intake, and additional compression, the
remarkable three fifty cubic inch small-block LS6 crate engine was
unveiled. In concert with the refined engineering from General Motors,
the Cadillac CTS-V and C5 Corvette Z06 utilize the LS6 crate engine
small-block to be ahead of their class. The five point seven LS6 crate
engine constructs on the intrinsic potency of the LS1 crate engine,
profiting from the higher lift camshaft & higher-compression pistons
raising horsepower from three fifty to four oh five. The torque is
also juiced up running from three forty pounds per foot to four
hundred pounds per foot. Such remarkable muscle is as a result of
hollow-stem valves, utilizing a more forceful camshaft, improved
intake, with better rated valve springs.
GM Performance Parts distributes the LS6 crate engine as an
all-inclusive assembly, inclusive of CTS-V aluminum oil-pan, endurance
log-style exhaust manifolds, as well as composite intake manifold
capable of large volume intake with single-bore throttle-body. The LS6
crate engine has lent a hand to enhancing Cadillac CTS-V and C5 Z06
Corvette super cars to greater heights of concert. This line
manufactured engine consists of an aluminum block, crankshaft,
aluminum heads, rods, valve train, pistons, camshaft, oil pan, valve
covers, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, throttle body, balancer, &
flywheel. However, the package contains no electronic additives. In
fact, at least, GM's crate engine agenda appears to present engines
that bring outstanding results as far as performance per dollar is
concerned. However, this speed gear business gives the impression that
it thrives on optimism. In no other instance is this more apparent
than the rationalization of claims and chest thumping begins. Even
though one would anticipate a large, highly regarded corporation as GM
to be candid it would not go muddled to have such claims autonomously
verified.
Starting as an ephemeral curiosity was the beginning of GM's latest
LS6 crate engine offering, the limited Z06 Corvette edition of the
LS6, this morphed into a chief test project. This was a light, well
worked; all-aluminum engine that, in ambiguous legal form, was
claiming output of four oh five SAE horsepower. This engine sublimely
moves from dormant smooth idle upping to the red-line at six thousand
six hundred while delivering appreciable mileage while at it. Some
background checks discovered that, in the form made known, a duplicate
of this engine is available for a going price of slightly over seven
grand. However, it would be a tall order an attempt at building an
analogous 23-degree small-block Chevy with anything below twelve
thousand bucks.
